Will you grab another case of Drinko?

Alicia and I just got tattoos in Kuala Lumpur (a specific post on this to follow) from a wonderful family of artists. We were lucky enough to get invited to dinner with them followed by a quick twirl around town and a drop off at our hotel (aka, super fabulous evening!).

On our way out from dinner traffic was all jammed up getting on the freeway. We theorized the jam was from people 'rubbernecking' an accident that was probably highly boring. We were right about the rubbernecking. Wrong about the boring.

Turns out the accident was a Malaysian version of an 18-wheeler tipped on its side on the freeway. The cab was all mangled and missing windows, driver not to be seen.

What was seen were the scores of crazy people parked on the side of the freeway and the on-ramp straight up looting the contents of the trailer (whose fabric lid had either broken or been ripped open). Inside the lorry were huge quantities of "Drinko", which is some sort of fruity Malaysian beverage that Google is not helping me find an example from.

As we were driving by there were a big group of guys stuffing case after case into their trunk. They were really, really excited about the deal. The commentary on the looters from our friends Lena and Craig was not very positive...

The scene was hilarious and a highlight of what turned out to be a great four days in Kuala Lumpur.

What a small world! Just this morning my neighbors (a small Army of Brooklyn natives) were unloading hundreds of boxes of 2-liters of Vanilla Pepsi and other creepy/old soda from the sidewalk entrance of their basement, into a waiting pick-up truck!! I'm pretty sure they are not in the beverage distribution business, so it was pretty hysterical and bizarre. If only it was "drinko"!!!
