Goodbye Sweet Bangkok, Hello Expensive Place

Alicia and I are packing up tonight from our two week stay in Bangkok. We've stayed at the strange, but comfy Sathorn Inn in the Silom 'downtown' area of the city for almost the entire time. This is the longest we've slept in one bed since May 15th!

And what a comfy bed it was... it has been nice to have slow-paced days exploring the city. We've often woken up late for our breakfast of corn flakes (thanks to the mini-fridge in our room) and then and afternoon of exploring this crazy place. Its been quite relaxing and we are realizing we are going to miss Bangkok quite a bit.

Quick funny story: Alicia and I wanted to get foot massages done today. There are a million places to go, but none look that appealing. They seem more like a hectic assembly line of massage vs. something relaxing. On our way home last night in the cab the driver took a different route because of crazy traffic. He took us right by the one place in the city I knew would be good - but I had forgotten the name or where it was! In 2005 on a trip to India I had an eight hour layover in Bangkok and spent the day in the city. I went to "Health Land" Spa on a recommendation of a fellow passenger and it was amazing. Turns out the same exact place I went to in 2005 is on the same block (different side) than our hotel. Madness! Alicia and I went today and for about $18 had a wonderfully relaxing time.

OK, back to packing. Singapore and its wallet-consuming nature are on the docket for tomorrow...

Finding the same spa was perfect!! You have had some interesting connections with your past on this trip.
