On the Road in the US!

We are now officially on the move! Alicia and I have been a bee-hive of activity since our last update. We left San Francisco on May 15th after a number of solid days of packing and organizing. Our friend Jonathan Hunt came over for a day and played moving super-hero and helped move all of our huge furniture. One of the highlights of the day was Jonathan single-handedly getting our queen-sized futon mattress down from our third-floor apartment by basically throwing it down each flight of stairs.

We drove out of San Francisco on the 15th over the Golden Gate bridge and made it to Boise in very good time. We did the drive in 'only' 12 hours, included an amusing stop in Jordan Valley, Oregon where Alicia witnessed real life Ranchers in giant cowboy hats (some intoxicated) eating at the local diner we were having dinner at. My Mother, Cathy, who grew up on a dairy farm in SE Idaho, described this as "Alicia's first experience in a third-world country".

We had a busy stay in Boise organizing our belongings for our trip and setting aside items for storage at my sister Amy's super cute new home (which she purchased last month, hooray Sister!). She is also letting us store our little Volkswagen in her back yard and is generally a trip super-hero!

Along with packing were were also were able to see my Idaho Aunts, Uncles, and Larrando cousins via a brunch and dinner planned and catered (with amazing food) by my Mom. We also got to spend a lot of time with my close friends in Boise. Alicia graciously accompanied me many-a-night to our favorite local watering hole, The Neurolux, which Alicia accurately described as being lifted out of a late 90's Seattle/grunge movie.

All in all, my parents and sister helped out so much in helping us get organized, feeding us (amazing food!), and of course putting a roof over our head for a few days. Thanks Fambily, we love you!

We flew into Rochester, New York on Tuesday and are now at Alicia's Uncle Colin and Aunt Daryl's house. They are taking amazing care of us and letting us rest up from our super busy last few weeks. Yesterday we saw Alicia's Grandparents, Anita and Victor, at there adorable home in Penfield. We were lucky enough to spend an entire afternoon with them visiting and then made dinner together! It was wonderful for Alicia and I to have such a good visit as we've missed both of them greatly.

We have a number of upcoming Herlehy family visits here in the Rochester-area over the next few days and then we are off to Natick, Mass. this Sunday to stay with Alicia's parents.
